About 'Photo Course Select'
Who are we?
Photo Course Select is a feeder site for two dedicated web sites for Photo Start Up and Photo Start Out. These courses were written a few years ago by Rona Cox, a social photographer for longer than she would like to admit! The courses are regularly updated and try to give the best value for money of any of the courses available today. Many students have gone on to be successful photographers with their own businesses, but if you enjoy your photography and feel you understand how your camera works at the end of the beginners course, Rona feels she has achieved what she set out to do!
Photo Start Up and Out are run on similar lines, with course material available on CD or in paper versions. However, Rona suggests that you will get most from the CD version and this is recommended.
There are quarterly competitions and occasional larger, themed competitions with fantastic prizes, recently gratefully partly supplied by Sharif Photography Services.
One of the most successful advantages, as verified by students, is the e-mail support. This is personal and prompt. Questions about any aspect of photography can be asked and friendships are quickly formed, making contact fun as well as informative.
Membership is for initially a year for longer courses or six months for mini courses, allowing the photographer to spread their learning in their own way. Course material will be supplied over a few months, but assignments can be completed at the student's own pace. If and when (Rona does her best to support the student until they reach the required standard) the student achieves a pass grade, they will be sent their Photo Start Up or Out certificate. This is not accredited and therefore has the advantage of being able to follow a realistic, fun and informative curriculum rather than that set down by third party authorities!
